At the start of the summer, François from Destination Île d’Orléans invited me to try sea kayaking at Île d’Orléans with Quatre Natures. I joined a group of bloggers and content creators on a press trip. François (the same François who introduced me to electric biking last year and owns the Motel de l’Île d’Orléans) thought it would be great for me to join them for the kayaking activity. I’m so thankful… I have to tell you all about it!
Kayaking Fun Guaranteed!
Quatre Natures uses both double and single kayaks for guaranteed fun! It’s a dynamic little company owned by Yohann Moucheboeuf, a true outdoor enthusiast. Besides sea kayaking at Île d’Orléans (which I’ll talk about more below), they offer mountain biking, canoeing, and forest hiking. In winter, you can enjoy snowshoeing, fat biking, and winter camping. Yohann aims to share his love for outdoor sports with both Quebec locals and travelers visiting Quebec City, and he does it beautifully!
Sea Kayaking on the St. Lawrence River from Île d’Orléans
My partner Sébastien and I had an appointment at the Parc Maritime de St-Laurent on the south side of the island, where Quatre Natures operates their sea kayaking trips. Along with the other bloggers, we met our guide for the day, Alexandre. Alex is a young and energetic guide who recently graduated in Adventure Tourism. We both studied at the same school, Collège Mérici. Alex’s emphasis on safety was evident. We felt we were in good hands to fully enjoy the shores of the St. Lawrence!
Exploring Île d’Orléans by Bike
We often visit the island by car. Why not try it by bike? You get to enjoy the scenery so much more on two wheels!
No Car? No Problem!
If you don’t have a car to get to your sea kayaking activity at Île d’Orléans, don’t worry! Quatre Natures offers a shuttle service from Old Quebec City. Convenient!
A new perspective on the Orleans Island – A Must-Try!
Here’s how our sea kayaking activity at Île d’Orléans went: After receiving the necessary equipment, our guide Alex introduced us to the company and gave us some safety instructions. He then explained how our double sea kayaks worked. I was so excited to get on board! After a few adjustments (comfort is key!), we were ready to launch. Immediately, I discovered a new perspective of the island and the river. Such a beautiful connection with nature… and we were just 30 minutes away from the cobblestone streets of Old Quebec City!
Halfway through, our guide found a lovely spot on the shore for a break and a snack. We had a great chat with him. Even though the activity lasts three hours, I felt that Alex wasn’t watching the clock. He just wanted to have fun with us and take it easy. He truly embodied the island’s relaxed vibe!

Is This Activity Physically Demanding? Sea Kayaking on Île d’Orléans made easy.
I don’t think so. Our guide adjusted to our pace. There’s no racing here. The physical effort level is quite low. The hardest part is carrying the kayaks between the river and the starting point, and even then, everyone helps each other out. Overall, the outing on the water is very enjoyable.
