Looking for a family-friendly private tour of Quebec City?

Among all my tours, the Quebec City 101 Tour is the best choice for families. It is not too long (I’m thinking about those short legs) and we cover the mains sights of Old Quebec on this tour…and some surprises on the way!

Disclaimer: I’m a native French speaker.  English is not my first language. I learned English at school, but I mostly learned it by watching to The Simpsons and listening to rock/metal music. So, I might have made a few mistakes in this blog post.  If I did, please tell me, its the best way I can improve!

It was a pleasure to show this lovely family Old Quebec on a walking tour!

1-Free Circus Show presented by FLIP Fabrique

This is truly an activity locals LOVE. We just can’t wait to see it back every summer. From July 16 to September 1st, enjoy a free outdoor circus show which is as impressive as Cirque du Soleil. This show, performed my the acrobats of FLIP Fabrique used to be presented in the Old Port but this summer, it is moving to Place Jean-Béliveau, next to the Videotron Centre and the new Grand Marché (Farmers’ Market). This breathtaking experience is presented Tuesdays to Sundays.

2- The Mega Park at Les Galleries de la Capitale

The Mega Park is the perfect thing to do with kids in Quebec City if you encounter a rainy day on your trip here. I remember my parents bringing me and my brothers there sometimes on rainy days. We loved it (and I still do!). Galeries de la Capitale is a huge mall with multiple shops, restaurants and even microbreweries. The place is best known for it’s amazing amusement park, the The Méga Parc. After long months being closed due to renovations, it is now open and we can definitely see the extreme makeover it has been through.  Eastern Canada’s Largest Indoor Amusement Park at has a new look with 18 attractions in a surrealist steam-punk environment.  New features include the only spoke-less ferris wheel in North America, drop tower, and the longest indoor skating track in Canada.

3- Immersion Québec

Traveling with teenagers? This is an the kind of activity that was clearly missing in Old Quebec and I’m glad local entrepreneurs fixed that problem. Immersion Quebec gives you the opportunity to dive into the history of Québec City with a spectacular interactive experience with tablets and VR goggles. Discover the city’s rich heritage and recreate historical events as if you were there. As a history buff, Immersion Quebec is ”tour guide approved”!

4-Quebec’s Aquarium

This a place both parents and kids will fall in love with and is always on Quebec City’s lists of top things to do with kids in Quebec City for a reason. Quebec’s Aquarium has a collection that includes nearly 10,000 specimens representing 300 species of mammals, indigenous and exotic fish, invertebrates, amphibians and reptiles. You can also watch marine mammals, such as polar bears, walruses and several seal species. This outdoor park really does a great job at raising awareness of environmental problems so it’s not just about watching animals doing funny tricks.  I personally really like the “Pavillon des profondeurs” with its jellyfishes, rays and sea horses. You can even touch the rays!

Want to explore St-Roch district? Benjo is a toy store that celebrates the magic of childhood. The friendly staff will make you see the world through a child’s eyes. Benjo even has a VIP door for children and a big electric train that gives kids a ride through the store. I don’t have kids, but somehow, I can’t resist going in when I’m strolling St-Roch district! After your visit, stop at Champagne Chocolatier (just next door) and treat you and your family with their delicious ice cream and chocolates!
